Remember Robert Jones

Robert Jones 1975

When did you attend Priory

  1973-1977

How did you locate the Priory website?

Googling some classmates names after stumbling across an old Priory Yearbook at my parents home in Atlanta

Who were your most memorable teachers?

Although all my teachers were very good, my academic renaissance occurred after leaving Priory.  Priory was transformative for me with respect to sports as I had excellent coaches and teachers such as Mike Henry (football) and Peter Chavannes (cricket).  They taught me the fundamentals of those sports and corrected bad habits.  Mike was a tough coach who rightly did not give me much playing time as I was not that good.

Who were your best friends at Priory?

I did not have "best" friends, but an abundant number of good friends and colleagues.  In the classroom, I remember Roberta Stoddart, Lisa Borland, Simon Finch, Andrew Wilmot, Christine Gonsalves, and others.  On the sports field, my good friends were Niles Adams and Freddie Andrade.

Who are you in touch with today?

None actively, but I do run into classmates now and again.  Over the years I have maintained contact with Ingrid Mangatal, Robert Woodham, and David Brown.

Who would you like to track down?

Any of my good friends.

What was the wildest thing you did at Priory?

Sorry, can't disclose!

Tell us about your memories of Priory and Jamaica

The international diversity of the school was fantastic, and made me very comfortable in multi-cultural environments.

Who was the craziest person during your time at Priory?

I did not think anyone was off the charts.

Where do you live and what do you do nowadays?

I live in New York City and for the past 4 years employed at B&H Photo, Video & Pro-Audio.  Professional and hard-core amateur photographers are probably very familiar with this retailer.  I lead B&H's business process improvement initiatives.

Tell us about any significant others

Married to Michele Moseley-Jones since 1997.  We met at our first college party as first year students (she at Wellesley and me at MIT).  We have a son, Alexander, who is 2 years old.

Tell us about your most unusual meeting with a Priory person

Francesca Brown was a regular customer of mine at Rhythm & Spice, a Caribbean restaurant and nightclub I owned in Cambridge, MA from 1994 to 2003.
