When did you attend Priory

  1972 - 1975

How did you locate the Priory website?

By accident whilst browsing t'internet

Who were your most memorable teachers?

Mr. Batten. Mainly because I was OK at Maths so we got on. His beard was pretty unforgettable also

John Batten

Who would you like to track down?

I used to live at Abbey Court Apartments , so anyone that used to live there including any of the Short brothers, Dorcas Keen, Judy Bruneman, any of the Keenan sisters, the Farager Sisters, Jill Armstrong, Ronnie Sampson etc.

Dorcas Keen, Ronnie Sampson and Jill Farager

What was the wildest thing you did at Priory?

Apart from the occasional sneaking out to Devon House for a Devon Duppy my favorite was getting an empty D&G bottle and then scraping it vigorously in the corner of a class room. This caused the paint to melt a bit and the bottle would mysteriously stay suspended in mid air (nowadays super-glue does the same sort of thing). It was great waiting to see if a teacher ever spotted it (they never did or perhaps they chose to ignore it).

My other favorite was sliding on my bum from one end of the 6th form room to the other.

Tell us about your memories of Priory and Jamaica

I loved the school and most of the inmates.

Who was the craziest person during your time at Priory?

No one really stands out. I think most kids are pretty crazy.

Where do you live and what do you do nowadays?

A smallish town called Shefford in Bedfordshire England.

I am a software engineer and my company specialise in materials handling solutions (i.e. robotic cranes, conveyors etc).

Tell us about any significant others

I met my wife Jayne at work and we got married in 1984. Jayne is now a reception class teacher in a local school.

We have two children, my son Sean was born in 1989 and is an avid triathlete. My beautiful, and very clever, daughter Paige was born in 1991.

Tell us about your most unusual meeting with a Priory person

The only meeting was this years London re-union organized by Stephen. It wasn't particularly unusual, but it was great to see old friends and was also a great start to the 2007 Xmas celebrations. What’s more it was held in a pub that I used to work directly opposite.

What do you think of the Priory Website?

I love it and all power to Stephen and every one else that is helping out to make it such a great nostalgia trip.

The only thing I would like to see added is Ilse Quant’s interview, because she promised at the London re-union, that if I sent mine in then she would do the same. So come on Ilse, no pressure J!!!
