Remember Karen Shipp

Karen Shipp 2011

When did you attend Priory?

  I think it was 1958-62

How did you locate the Priory website?

Who were your most memorable teachers?

Mrs. Burkhart.  I loved her.  She was the coolest woman.  So interesting.  I also remember Mrs. Browning - but not in a good way!!

Who were your best friends at Priory?

Domenica DeCarla - we would play Nancy Drew together - and she would let me be Nancy!!

Who are you in contact with today?

No one

Who would you like to make contact with?

Mrs. Burkhart and the Langs

What was the wildest thing you did at Priory?

I was fairly young and easily intimidated.  I was a pretty good kid - but Mrs. Browning HATED me.

Tell us about your memories of Priory

I remember the Main House.  I remember the Field Days (hated them!).  I remember Mr. Fowler loping across the fields going from classroom to classroom, his black robes billowing around him.  I remember some of my Latin.  I remember some of my French.  I remember Madame Souris and her mouse house.  I remember having to hold books on my outstretched arms for talking in class.  I remember a lizard crawling up Mrs. Browning's leg and her screaming like a murdered woman (loved it!!).  I remember Mary Sue Stewart and Felicity.

I remember thinking this was the best education I received in my life.

Who was the craziest person during your time at Priory?

I don't remember many different people.

Where do you live and what do you do nowadays?

I am in Houston, Texas and I work as an Executive Assistant.

Tell us about any significant others

I am married to a native Houstonian (not many of those!) and have a son who is the catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Chris Snyder

Tell us about your most unusual meeting with a Priory person

I did see Judy Lang in Austin about 10 years or so ago.  Her parents and my parents had been friends and the Lang's were in Austin and we went to visit.

What do you think of the Priory Website?

Love it!!
