Remember John Downie?
When did you attend Priory?
1974 - 1980
Who was your most unforgettable teacher?
Mr Rashliegh (English & Drama) and Mr Chevannes. Mr Rashliegh encouraged me to express and explore my ideas through both writing and acting. Mr Chevannes always saw something in my football skills and included me in the under 19 squad from age 14.
Who were your best friends at school?
William Cocking, Thomas "Mandingo" Desulme, Dwight "Biggas" Moore and Courtney "Dawg Ears" Smith.
William Cocking Dwight Moore Thomas Desulme
Who are you in touch with now?
Occassionally Courtney Smith, Dwight Moore & Thomas Desulme.
Who would you like to trace if we could?
William Cocking, Micah Taylor, Milton James & Curtis Bennett.
What's the wildest thing you ever did at Priory?
I wasn't much of a wild one but I did organise one of my first ever events at Priory to raise money for the 1980 graduation committee. It was a concert in the Fowler Hall which featured the late DJ General Echo, Maddoo & Lone Ranger (who did not turn up). The headline was a 12 year old new reggae starlett, Nadine Sutherland. It was definitely an Uptown meets Downtown showcase.
Who was the craziest person during your time at Priory?
William Cocking was not really crazy but he was certainly one of the most entertaining. I remember once when he hit the awesome Stephen Rodgers for four consecutive boundaries in a house cricket match. Each time he put Rodgers away for 4 runs, he just fell about the cricket pitch. almost killing himself laughing. I'm sure Stephen can appreciate the funny side of that now.
Where do you live and what do you do now?
I live in Sydenham, Bromley in England. I run an events management company here called SABA Communications Ltd. You can see what we get up to on www.gigsonline.net , www.ukunsignededucation.com and www.ukunsigned.net . By the way, we are always looking for new performers to promote to take part in our national talent quest called UK UNSIGNED.

Tell us about your most unusual meeting with a Priory person
I popped into Paul "Jas" Shoucair's record shop in Liguanea Plaza to buy some classic raggae CDs. He didn't recognise me until I introduced myself. but he did then refer me to this great web site. Well done Paul!
What do you think of the Priory site?
This is a fantastic site that has become a regular part of my Sunday morning routine. Along with reading the Sunday papers, I now always look forward to the new updates on the site. Keep up the good work Stephen.
