Remember Guy Martin?

Guy Martin

When did you attend Priory?

From 1968 - 1974.

Who is your most unforgettable teacher from Priory?

Mr. Brinn - he used to throw chalk and erasers at us in the back row when we acted up or fell asleep.

If I remember right there were a couple of sexy Art teachers back in the 70s too.

Who were your best friends at school?

In my early years it was Phillip Crimarco. In the middle years it was Christopher Minott. In the latter years Robert "Bully" Joseph.

Who are you in touch with now?

I cross paths with quite a few Prioryites from time to time but I stay in regular contact with only a few such as Phillip Crimarco, Chris Minott and his brother Paul.

Who would you like to trace if we could?

Penny Benn. I had a crush on her in 1st form. I believe she is somewhere between Texas and Jamaica. Would love to make contact again. Also I'd like to trace Nigel Benjamin. Another person I'd love to get in touch with is Calvin Blackwood. Last I heard he was in the New York area. We had some good times as "prefects" when Michael Matalon was head boy.

What's the wildest thing you ever did at Priory?

Back in the 70s wild was the norm. Nothing really stands out in my mind though I am sure there is someone out there that can relate something I may have done that struck them as wild at the time.

Who was the wildest person during your time at Priory?

Simon Blake for sure. Wild and crazy. Streaking through graduation.

Where do you live and what do you do now?

I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and have been here since leaving Jamaica in 1996 with my family. I work for a Swiss Group as Vice President COO/CFO of their US operations in Miami. We sell and service washing and sterilizing equipment made in our factories in Europe to the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Tell us about any significant others

My wife Bridget (O'Brien) was born in Jamaica but moved to New York at an early age. She returned to Jamaica in the early 80s where we met and fell in love very quickly. We were married in 1985 and remain best friends and soul mates. She takes care of our family and runs a small export business we own and operate out of home.

My son Kyle (18) is a Junior at Florida State University studying Computer Science and Business. He got credit for his Freshman year by graduating with an International Baccalaureate diploma and hopes to have his MBA by the end of his 4th year. Kinda smart!

My daughter Jordan (15 going on 21) is a Sophomore in High School and follows closely behind Kyle in the smarts department. She is constantly on the go with karate, swimming and the debate team. God help me with the arguments. We have been extremely well blessed.

What do you think of the Priory website?

I think it is a great idea that will naturally continue to evolve. Its a fantastic way to renew old friendships and find out about what past friends have been doing.
