Remember Anne Paterson
Anne Paterson 2012
Anne Paterson 1969
When did you attend Priory?
1968, 1969 thereabouts
How did you locate the Priory website?
Tried to look up Priory earlier this year (2011)without success, then on a recent visit to my sister in London we spent a wonderful evening going through the whole site and getting all nostalgic about Priory days
Who were your most memorable teachers?
I can never forget the way Mr Wingate, instead of walking through the door like everyone else, would enter the classroom unexpectedly by leaping through the window. He brought a feeling of fun and happiness that lasted for the rest of the lesson. Mr Wingate was a great mentor in sports and in life.
Mr. Richard Wingate
Who were your best friends at Priory?
Actually my best friend Sally was from my previous school in Kingston, St Anne's (didn't do very well there as it was so different from UNIS in NY so was switched to Priory - much more fun)
Who are you in contact with today?
Lost touch with everyone after moving to UK, hitching around Europe a bit then landing in Malta (couldn't settle down in England either)
Who would you like to make contact with?
It would be really nice to hear from Chris Aldred and Erica Garrett and I knew Lydia Coates slightly from UN school before so would be great to know what they are all doing now. I also remember Graham Brands's wonderful parties!
Chris Aldred, Erica Garrett, Lydia Coates and Graham Brand
What was the wildest thing you did at Priory?
Skipping class to read those LIFE nature books in the Library - such lovely photos, such dreams... and skipping biology on Saturday mornings to watch James Bond movies
Tell us about your memories of Priory
Mosquitoes under the desk biting my legs, running into Scotty on the stairway and saying "Wotcher", English Lit class
Who was the craziest person during your time at Priory?
Sarah, in a nice sort of way - she helped to set up the hotdog stand and had this wall-to-wall smile. I think there were doughnuts too!
Where do you live and what do you do nowadays?
Island state of Malta, about level with Tunisia. I just could not settle in UK. Growing up on islands is special. Malta seemed a natural choice with plenty of other islands to explore (Sicily, Sardinia, Crete, Kythnos...) I'm an environmental journalist - and a property manager which keeps me in touch with two different sides of the same reality.
Tell us about any significant others
Ivan, my husband since 1987
Tell us about your most unusual meeting with a Priory person
Well I did meet Keith Slater briefly, just by chance as he was coming off the Air Jamaica flight at Heathrow while I was waiting to meet my Dad in 1971.Keith lived across the road from us in Kingston at one point and we practised guitar together during the holidays. Great to see you're biking too Keith!
What do you think of the Priory Website?
This website is perfect for bringing those fond Priory memories back to life!
